Ongoing research

I am in touch with six people that have done or are currently doing research on the Blood family.  Without them I wouldn't have half of the information that I have.  This is a very difficult and confusing family to research. The research is ongoing.  If anyone has any information about this family please contact me.

I only have two pictures of Blood family members.  Please see my genealogy reports tab for a report of the information I have so far.  I am constantly receiving more information.  Check back for updates.

Blood family

Edna (Blood) Steward was my husband's great grandmother.  She was also known as Velma Aungst.  She was adopted by Minnie and Daniel (Peabody) Aungst.  Her birth parents were Lewis and Edna (Loomis) Blood.

Edna was one of four children in the the Blood family.  She was born 5 Aug 1895 in Weidman, Isabella county, MI and died 1 May 1944 in Nashville, Barry County, MI.  She went to the St. Joseph home in Berrien county and then to live with the Aungst family when she was two years old.

Edna's birth father was Lewis Blood.  He was one of twelve children born to Darius Parker and Harriet Beecher (Stowe) Blood. (she is not the famous author of Uncle Tom's Cabin).  Lewis was born 11 Sept 1866 in Montcalm Co., Mi and died 30 Jan 1915 in Bismark Twp., Presque Isle County, MI.  The family story was that he froze to death in the "northern woods".  His death certificate says he died of a pulmonary embolism.  I have an article regarding Lewis' death.  The article is "Hawks Man was Frozen to Death".  The article explains the reason why there is some confusion regarding the cause of death.

Lewis' parents, Darius and Harriet, had 12 children.  Three of those children were adopted out because Darius was fighting in the civil war.  The family fell on hard times and they had to find other homes for three of their children.

Darius Parker Blood was one of six children (that I know of) born to Justus Waldo and Persis (Cooley) Blood.  Darius was born 26 Dec. 1829 in Rutland Co., Vermont and died 5 Aug 1896 in Westville, Montcalm Co., MI.  Justus was born 17 May 1807 in Glover, Orleans, Vermont, and died abt. 1882 in Glennwood, Sevier, Utah.

Justus' parents were Timothy and Ann (Nevins) Blood.  As far as I know, they were both born in New Hampshire.
