**New** Added 122 items to Rugg family collection on 11 Oct 2008

Click on Genealogy reports and Scrapbook index (on the left of the screen) to get to the Scrapbook index that I created for the Dave Rugg scrapbooks.  All three of them are in one index.  I know the index is not perfect but corrections and additions can be made anytime.  Please contact me if you see anything that needs to be corrected.  If you do not have copies of the pages on disc, please contact me.

As of 1 October 2008 I have 2239 items for the Rugg family.  The items include pictures, newspaper articles, obituaries, birth certificates, marriage licenses, death certificates, and military documents.  My collection also includes copies of family scrapbook pages.

I can print several different types of charts and reports for the Rugg family genealogy research that I have compiled.  I have received copies of research from other family members and have done some research myself.

Please contact me if you want copies of any of these items.

 Constabulary

Dave Rugg's separation papers have this information:

"Horseman.  Served in Germany with the 10th constabulary regiment as
squad leader of 4 man horse squad patrolled border maintaining
security raided black market and underground activities was
responsible for condition of men, horses and equipment in squad"

I have added pictures on the "My Photo" tab that include pictures of the horse platoon.

I found a very interesting site that is all about the Constabulary.  Check it out: http://www.geocities.com/usconstabulary/index.html

Rugg family scrapbooks

In 2002 I asked Grandpa (David Henry Rugg) if I could put his pictures in scrapbooks.  He had a large number of pictures that need to be preserved and displayed.  He was excited about the project and told me that I could do it.  I started the project and then realized that I was in over my head.  I needed lots of help to put all of his pictures in books.  So, I called Aunts and cousins to form a group that helped to ensure that future generations would have access to these precious family memories and heirlooms.  In Sept of 2002 we started the albums and finished in 2003.  There are three scrapbooks and two or three pocket photo albums.  I will not list the names of the people that helped unless they give me permission to list them here.

Dave Rugg Family Reunion

I took a lot of pictures during the reunion.  If anyone wants copies please contact me.  I e-mail family pictures to the appropriate family if I had e-mail addresses for that family.

Jamie purchased a notebook so that we can keep notes regarding attendance, new additions, and any other interesting information from year to year.  We hope that the reunion continues for a long time.  Also, I put contact information, birthdates, and attendance information into spreadsheet form so it can be easily sorted and searched.  A copy will be in the notebook.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help plan for next please contact Jamie, Kerri, Sheila, or Teri.

Let's try for 100% attendance next year! We can do it!

On 12 Aug 2008 I took pictures of every single scrapbook page in those three albums.  Now, any family member that wants a copy of those books can have one.  (In disc form).  I owe a huge thank you to my husband, Les, for making a camera stand that allows me to take better pictures of the pages (the pages are too big to fit on a normal scanner).  I have included a couple of those pages here.

An index is now available for the three scrapbooks.  I can e-mail it to you or you can look at it on the page names Genealogy reports and scrapbook index.  The PDF file is there.

I also want to add a huge thank you to everyone that helped put the scrapbooks together.  It was a very big and very worthwhile project!

My Collection

I just added 100 items to my collection of Rugg family pictures, documents etc.  This collection includes at least 293 scrapbook pages (from 6 different scrapbooks), 500 photos (that does not include the photos in my scrapbooks that are not also on the computer), and numerous, birth, marriage, and death certificates, genealogy letters, military papers, newspaper articles, obituaries, and funeral cards.  The collection has around 950 items.  It won't all fit on one CD anymore (at least not the Cds that I have).

I would love to collect more.  Please contact me if you have pictures or documents that you would like to have added to the collection.  I love family history and want to have as much of it in one place as possible.

My mother, Annette (Vaughan) Campbell, painted this candy dish for Grandpa Rugg in 1987.  It was a Christmas gift.  On the bottom she painted, "Christmas 1987 from Ed, Annette, & kids".  It was in Grandpa Rugg's house for almost 21 years.  It had candy in it most of that time.  Now it is at my house packed away in a tub with lots of cushion to keep it safe.  If anyone in the Rugg family wants to borrow it for a party or something please let me know.
